Welcome to Arizona!

Phoenix to Tucson

The first task was to move the cat
off my suitcase!!

Note the baleful glare!

Marilyn picked me up at 5:15 IN THE MORNING!  We drove to her son, Kurt's new place and he took us to the airport for the four and a half hour flight to Phoenix.  On the plane we chatted with our seatmate, Janice, who is now an instructional assistant in Pinellas County;  but she spent twenty-five years as a correctional officer!  Very interesting lady!  (and good prep for teaching!)

Different
view of
Tampa
International
Airport.

I -10 introduces us to the Arizona
landscape....lots of brown and scrub brush and
cacti.

And in the middle of all that, CORN!

The decorations on the sides of the
overpasses are amazing!  And all
different!
Picatio Peak - where the Civil War was fought!

This is pretty unusual - all the green!!

                                                                                                            This says it all!

                                                                              Watch the birdie!

We're heading for Tucson and Marilyn's Auntie Edna, aka Rosie. She lives in a Del Webb community called Sunflower and it is gorgeous!  You can see four different mountain ranges, one of each of the four points of the compass, and the yards are all xeriscaped, since water is at such a premium!

The Catalina Mountains in the background.

Here's our little Ford Focus in Rosie's driveway.  The Thrifty man
was really obnoxious and tried very hard to upgrade us and
to sell us extra insurance.  He failed!
